Here are a few of the professional bodies that therapists can join. It will depend on the therapy you offer as to which professional body would be beneficial for you to join.

Many of the professional bodies also have an insurance scheme that you can use as well. The insurance through a professional body will normally be better suited to your needs than a general insurance company and more cost effective.

Being part of a professional body will help keep you up to date with changes in the therapies you practice as well as any differences in legislations.

Some professional bodies will cover many therapies such as the Complementary Therapy Association and the Federation of Holistic Therapists. If you specialise in only one therapy such as Reiki then it may be better to join one that caters to Reiki. There are a few such as…

For different therapies:

  • Federation of Holistic Therapists
  • Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council
  • Association of Natural Medicine
  • Complementary Therapists Association
  • Guild of Holistic Therapists
  • Guild of Beauty Therapists

For Reiki therapies:

  • UK Reiki Federation
  • The Reiki Association
  • The Reiki Guild

If you newly qualified and are looking for advice on which professional body to join then please ask and I will help guide you in the right direction.
