Candle Light Massage
The Hammam Ritual Candle Light Massage is a deeply luxurious, relaxing and cleansing therapy, although NOT a deep tissue massage.
What to expect during your treatment
The Hammam experience begins with your choice of a scented massage candle, the candle is lit and I ask you to focus on the flame of the candle, to take some slow, easy breaths which help to ground and relax you.
This therapy begins with you lying on your back and experiencing a chest, neck, and face massage (Hour and half treatment only).
Each part of your body will be body brushed and will receive a traditional soaping of the body using Moroccan beldi black soap which prepares the skin for exfoliation (or gommage) using the Kessa mitts. The soap is then removed with warm hand mitts which open up your skin's pores.
Warm candle wax is massaged in providing comfort and warmth using gentle, soothing massage techniques. This warming body treatment will leave your mind feeling calm and relaxed and your skin feeling soft, nourished and lightly scented.

The Moroccan Beldi Black soap is scented with eucalyptus oil (which has anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory effects) , has a texture of butter and is a natural vegetable paste with a base of black olives which are rich in vitamin E. This soap helps to prepare the skin for exfoliation and combined with the Kessa gloves will remove impurities and dead skin.
The use of the Beldi Black soap and the exfoliation may help increase the blood and lymph circulation as well as helping to relieve itchy or dry skin which may be due to dead skin cells and clogged pores.
The special massage candle wax contains a product called Argan Oil, which is fantastic for the skin. In Morocco, Argan Oil is known as 'liquid gold' and is said to have restorative and anit-age defying properities.
Argan oil is rich in anti oxidants and vitamin E and is fantastic for regenerating skin cells. Argan oil is great for re-generating skin cells and may help with dry hairand scalp conditions.
The combination of the black soap with the gommage and then the application and massage with the oil from the massage candles is wonderful for rejuvenating the skin.
VERY IMPORTANT: argan oil comes from a nut, so anyone with a nut allergy should not experience this massage. There is soya wax present in the candles and will not be suitable if you have a soya allergy.
Products used during the therapy
The Hammam Ritual Candle Light Massage uses products that are environmentally sourced and exceptional for the mind and body. Hammam means 'spreader of warmth' in Arabic.
The Moroccan Black Beldi soap and argan oil come from a company that supports women who work in communities in Morocco who help to produce the golden Argan oil which in turn aid projects that help the education of children , slow the rural exodus and combat the spread of disease.
The massage candles I use are made from 100% natural ingredients and blended with carefully selected essential oils. They contain environmentally friendly argan oil, soya wax, shea and cocoa butters and are handmade in Scotland.
These ingredients are natural, extremely rich and moisturising and the candles have a low melting point so the oils will not burn the skin when applied.
The candles also contain grapefruit, lavender and rosemary essential oils. You will leave the therapy room feeling relaxed, pampered and grounded...
