Seated Acupressure Massage

Seated Acupressure Massage is a twenty minute massage, given through the clothes to a client who is seated.

Seated Acupressure Massage is based on a traditional form of Japanese massage which is called ANMA. It was first introduced to Japan about 1500 years ago from China, although there are records of its existence dating back 3000 years B.C.

In Japanese, ANMA means to press and rub, and was originally passed down from family to family. The massage sequence is called a 'KATA' and is like a self contained, choreographed and very effective series of movements. The 'KATA' takes about 20 – 30 minutes, depending on what the client would like and over sixty acupressure points are included as well as certain trigger points. This type of massage is fantastic for the workplace, as it can be adapted into longer or shorter sequences. See page on Corporate Massage.

What are the benefits?

Seated Acupressure Massage has a normalising and balancing effect on the body. The intention of the 'KATA' is to promote a sense of wellbeing. Tense muscles will be relaxed, the circulation of the blood can be increased and the organs of the body are tonified.

This treatment is revitalising and tonifying and can be as beneficial as if you've had a 60 minute full body treatment. This treatment targets key areas of tension, primarily the back, neck and shoulders.

What to expect during your treatment

A consultation will be carried out to check for any issues that a client may need or want dealing with.

A client will remain fully clothed for this treatment. A professional massage chair is used for the comfort of the client, who will be seated on the chair carefully, while maintaining correct posture at all times.

The treatment then, depending on the time the client requires, will be carried out and adapted to the clients needs.
