When I left school I knew I wanted to be able to help people and that I wanted to work in the health sector. I went to Norwich City College for 2 years and studied for a BTEC National Diploma in Health Studies and Science. After I completed this qualification I worked at the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital for 6 years and trained as a Cardiographer.
I have always been interested in Complementary Therapies having experienced many for myself. I suffered persistent headaches and migraines for many years and found that using complementary therapies really helped to ease and eventually get rid of them. I realised how beneficial complementary therapies are for the mind, body and soul and decided I wanted to train in this field.
In 2006 I began my training in complementary therapies. Indian Head Massage was the first therapy I trained in. I enjoyed helping and working with people while practising Indian Head Massage so much I followed it up with Therapeutic Massage. Eventually Hot Stone Therapy and Seated Acupressure Massage followed.
Reiki is another therapy I carry out. My life has changed dramatically since I began practising Reiki, all for the good! This therapy is the only one that I can give to myself as well as to my clients. I approach life in a different and better way since training in Reiki.
Allergy testing and treatment followed after I found out I had a food intolerance to dairy and soya products. After I left out the problem foods I was amazed at how much better I felt and how symptoms like bloating and stomach cramps eased. So much can be treated through the use of food and it is amazing how many different symptoms can be associated with it. I decided to train in allergy testing to be able to help others who may suffer intolerances like me.
I am a member of the professional body the Association of Natural Medicine and I have to carry out continuing professional development, which allows me to further my skills.
